After the devastating earthquake on February 27, the situation in Santiago is under control. The public means of transportation, even the subway, have been running again since Sunday, February 28 and stores and businesses are open as usual and the earthquake is no longer topic number 1. However, the situation is still very complicated in the southern part of the country, especially between the cities of Concepción and Talca. Many people not only have lost their belongings but also beloved family members. Volunteers are needed urgently to help with cleanup efforts and to rebuild the cities and villages. Furthermore, many local hospitals, social institutions and the Red Cross need funds in order to keep on working. Chile Inside has already sent supplies to the south of Chile and offers the coordination of volunteer work positions related to the earthquake at a service charge.
