The LessonsThe language school offers high quality Spanish courses for people at all stages of learning the language. Each of the teachers has a University degree as well as extensive professional experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Most of the teachers speak other languages in addition to Spanish since many of them have lived and worked abroad for an extended period of time. The students in group courses are divided into different levels (basic, intermediate and advanced) based on their previous knowledge and understanding of Spanish assessed through a small test taken either online before arrival or on the first day of class. This ensures cohesive learning and progress of the language skills for all of the individuals in each group. The course material is provided by the language school. On the first day, students will receive the class material corresponding to their level containing numerous grammar exercises complemented by worksheets and examples. The classes focus on three different areas of language comprehension. Students will learn the fundamental grammar rules and then apply them in writing and conversational exercises. This teaching method ensures that students practice and apply the principles they have learned. In addition, communication among the group is improved while each student gains a boost of confidence using the foreign language in real life. The language school is also a social gathering point for many of the students. During coffee breaks, teachers encourage students to communicate with their classmates, facilitating the creation of lifelong friendships! Coffee, tea, water and cookies are provided in the common areas during each break and a room with eight computers enables the students to browse the internet at their disposal. A karaoke machine can also be used to practice Spanish by singing songs with other classmates and teachers. These breaks and additional activities form an important part of the learning process for students as they become more comfortable in their settings and amongst new friends. The Spanish courses take place throughout the whole year and always begin on Mondays. No matter the Spanish level, we always recommend that students take at least a few weeks of courses so that they are able to become accustomed to the Spanish that is used in Chile. Spanish is an essential language in today’s global society, so the more Spanish a person knows; the more competitive he or she will be in the professional world! |
