In Latin America the social disparities are still very existent leaving many social institutions lacking the extra help of workers and financial support. The help of volunteers is appreciated throughout the world. In Chile, you have the opportunity to help people that need it most and give them hope for the future. In cooperation with different social institutions and non-profit organizations, Chile Inside offers various volunteer work projects throughout Chile. In most cases you will work directly with the affected persons taking on responsibilities like caring for sick or homeless children, helping handicapped or elderly adults and supporting the homeless population. There are also possibilities to work with the indigenous Mapuche Indians or in environmental sustainability projects.The best way to get known a foreign country, its language, people and culture is to become part of the society and volunteering allows you to do just that. You will explore and appreciate Chile from a different prospective apart from the typical touristic perception. Not only the people who receive your help, but you will also benefit from your social commitment. With international volunteer work on your resume, you will demonstrate your generosity, adaptability, optimism and tolerance; a significant advantage when applying for a job. In addition, you will rapidly acquire Spanish skills, making you stand out from all the job seekers. Considering that Spanish is now one of the most important languages spoken in the world because of Latin America’s growing economic relations with the industrial countries, it is increasingly important to learn Spanish.
Program LocationsWe offer a wide range of different volunteer positions throughout Chile. Volunteers will work directly with the affected people or carry out administrative tasks in the office. Our partners include prestigious domestic and international institutions, foundations, Chilean companies varying in size, private and public institutions, non-profit organizations as well as government agencies. Due to the nature of these programs, volunteer work is not paid. Depending on the location, small benefits may be rewarded to volunteers (accommodation, lunch, etc.), but are not guaranteed in any of the positions. In addition to full-time volunteer work positions, we also provide the opportunity to volunteer on a part-time basis. Full-time volunteer work requires between 30 and 40 hours from Monday to Friday dedicated to the program as opposed to part-time volunteer work which requires a time commitment of two to four afternoons per week. Part-time volunteer work is carried out in combination with a Spanish course in the morning. This combination program is available in Santiago, Valparaíso or Viña del Mar. Independent of the volunteer schedule, we recommend all volunteers to participate in a Spanish course prior to (full or part-time) or simultaneously during the volunteer work (part-time). This way you are able to combine the theory learned in class with practice in real life situations.
AccommodationsTo complete your stay in Chile, leave it to us to arrange the perfect accommodations for you. We place our volunteers in the homes of carefully selected Chilean host families or in shared apartments. You will always have your own single room and access to the common areas of the house or apartment. All accommodations are cozy and located in nice and safe areas. In all cases, you will have access to public transportation, supermarkets, stores and other commodities of the city. You can decide if you want to live with a Chilean host family or in a shared apartment. Living with a host family allows you to get known the typical Chilean family life while in a shared apartment you will live with other young foreigners or Chileans. Half-board can only be offered while living with a host family.

Prices are subject to change. Application fee 100 USD. The prices are related to the duration of the program. The payment is due when booking the program (for example: 4 months VIP package, one time payment of 535 USD). The monthly rent for the accommodation is not included and has to be paid on a monthly basis directly to the landlord in Chile (monthly rental price ranges from 300 to 450 USD).

Don’t forget to attach your resume with a recent photo. To get started with the creation of your personal application profile adapted to Chilean standards and the organization of your volunteer program, a one-time registration and handling fee of USD 100 will be due. Once we have these elements, we are ready to begin arranging your volunteer program. To organize an adequate volunteer program, we need between three and six weeks.
