Social commitment is in great demand! In Latin America the social differences are still very big. There is a huge gap between rich and poor people. Many families live in poverty and are dependant on external help. Sick and handicapped children are often repudiated, do not have a home and as a consequence have to stay at hospitals or children's homes. Many old people live in nursing homes or on the streets. Many sick people do not have the money to pay for the necessary surgery or medical treatment. Additionally to our full-time volunteer work positions we provide you the opportunity to volunteer on a part-time basis. If you volunteer full-time you will work between 35 and 45 hours per week, usually from Monday to Friday. Half-day volunteering requires your commitment on 2 to 5 afternoons per week. This gives you the unique possibility to combine volunteering with spare time activities or other arrangements. We highly recommend combining volunteer work with Spanish courses in Santiago de Chile during the morning. This allows you to practice your Spanish in real life situations and you can train your newly acquired skills. Experience a different side of life in Latin America and help giving hope to some people! |
